When seniors book with me, there are expectations from both parents and their seniors. I understand! As a mom myself, I know what it’s like to want the very best for your child, and for a high school senior to feel the pressure to have the best senior portraits (especially with social media!). That’s why communication is so crucial in the process; it helps everyone’s nerves/anxiety/excitement feel grounded and heard! When seniors book with me (and their parents), there are a few things I want them to know…

I want you to feel heard and understood: I am not in the business of dismissing and brushing aside client concerns! In fact, my sessions are built on the premise of respect…respect for the parents or guardians, the seniors, and the experience! I believe this respect goes both ways, and I’m committed to listening to your concerns and priorities so that I can accurately meet your needs. For many seniors, senior photos are not just photos…they can be a hard milestone after deep loss, a big victory after a sports injury or setback, or something they’ve been excited for since middle school. No matter where you are in the journey, I want it to be exactly what you’re hoping for.
I want you to understand the process clearly: I don’t know about you, but knowing what to expect always makes me feel more confident when I start a process. I like to lay out the fees, payment schedule, timeframes, and expectations clearly when you book with me, so that you and I are completely on the same page. I also make myself available to answer questions from clients so that when their senior session day arrives, they feel absolutely ready and amazing! After all, on that important day, you want to soak up the magic and the moment, and not worry about details that weren’t wrapped up.
I want you to feel beautiful/handsome and confident: Beautiful photos begin with beautiful people. And by that, I don’t mean just outward beauty, but the kind that starts inside, with your heart and your character. I believe in getting to know my clients, so that I can understand what you’re passionate about, and bring those things to life in photos. I’ve done everything from bringing in people’s brand-new cars, pets, and even wakeboarding! If you have something that brings you joy and makes you feel alive, that is where the great photos start. Talk to me about any insecurities if you are comfortable doing so, as well as the things you love/feel excited about so that we can work together to make sure your session reflects the REAL you.
I want you to feel good about showing the photos to family and friends: What good are photos if they are languishing in drawers or on hard drives? I love seeing my senior clients displaying their images on their graduation invitations, and seeing them on the walls of their family home. I love being tagged in their photos in Insta or Facebook, and seeing you share them is the highest compliment I could ask for! I want you to be so excited about your images that your friends can’t wait to see them, and ask you where they were done (in fact, that’s where so many of my referrals come from!).
Lastly, I want you to know that the photos we create together are not just pictures; they’re a legacy. They’re a testament to your journey, your achievements, and your dreams. They’re a gift to your future self, a reminder of your strength and beauty. They’re a treasure that your loved ones will cherish for generations to come. Thank you for choosing me to be a part of this incredible chapter in your life. I am truly honored and excited to capture your story, your emotions, and your unique beauty. Together, we will create art that tells the story of you!
