This ages me a little bit, but when I get to do photos for friends’ kids, it makes my heart so full. I can’t believe so many of their children are now old enough to be graduating (even though I have grown children!), but it’s sure an honor whenever I am asked to photograph them. I went to high school wtih Ashlea’s mom (Abbie), and also was lucky enough to do their son Kyle’s senior portraits last year. Getting to do a second session for their family was a treat! Ashlea is a beauty and she is graduating from College Station High School, where she’s been part of the drill team and the National Honor Society. She also volunteers tons of her time at their church and works at a local wedding venue and snow-cone stand. “My two biggest passions in life are my relationship with Jesus, and dance”, she explained, “I am excited about my faith, preparing for college, and being part of the drill team.” She hopes her greatest characteristic is kindness, and I’d definitely say that’s true of her sweet personality. In her spare time, she loves to go to her favorite Wing restaurant and the lake with friends.
This bright senior asked for lots of flowers in her session and of course, we brought that vision to life. I couldn’t wait to find the perfect field filled with wildflowers, and this one really fit the bill…it also suited that Ashlea wanted a very natural feeling session. Overall, I really just enjoyed our time together, and these images feel like a bonus! Ashlea is a precious young lady with big dreams (she hopes to attend A&M and major in dance and education), and she says personally she wishes that more people would actively seek God in their lives. “One of my biggest role models was my grandpa”, she adds, “Because he was both kind and hardworking”. I can tell she carries so many of his characteristics in her amazing heart.
I never take these moments for granted, and I feel so blessed to be able to photograph family friends. What a blessing. Congratulations, Ashlea!
