Here in Texas, when that summertime heat hits, it HITS. The heat waves come on quickly and with ferociousness, and so I’m all about finding ways to beat the heat and help manage my time during the summer. As a busy mom, business owner, and someone trying balance work and fun, I love a great time or hack. Here is a roundup of the links, recipes, and ideas that I am absolutely loving:

This recipe for a healthy, filling salad: Are you going to a barbecue or potluck this summer? You’ll want to bring this fantastic Orzo salad, which we promise will make you the hit of any event. It’s healthy, filling, and will feed a crowd cause it’s easy to scale up to a large number of servings. It’s also wonderful for the nights when you don’t want to cook..make a huge batch and add some protein for a quick dinner.
This beach bag: These BOG bags are a massive hit for a reason. They’re ideal for days spent lounging at the beach or pool, because they hold a ton. They also hose off, don’t leak, and don’t tip over! They’re often sold out, so if you find one be sure to snatch it up. I’m also loving anything that consolidates the amount of stuff I have to drag with me on these hot days, so these tiny foldable towels are genius!
The best gift: If you’re looking for a gift for the person who has everything, you’ll want to get them a Pura plug-in scent warmer. These smart plug ins are awesome because you can set the amount of scent you want in your home, without wasting any. The scents are also made from essential oils, and don’t smell like the yucky chemical type scent warmers of most of the plug-ins. This would be a lovely Christmas gift, graduation present, or hostess gift.
The best minimalist earrings: The hoop is back in a big way, and these are some of the best versions. Made by Mary is an amazing business who is making quality jewelry at affordable prices. I have two pairs of the lived-in hoops, and they don’t come out, interfered with my headphones, or tarnish. They’re under $30, and you’ll wear them daily. I’m all about easy, cute accessories that I can wear and never have to fuss with.
The best way to display your summer snapshots: Mixtiles was something I saw lots of times online, but finally bit the bullet and tried. It’s not heirloom quality, so I do not recommend these for senior photos or photos in your living room. But for snapshots that you just want to get up on the walls in your kids’ rooms or to show off your vacation pics, Mixtiles is truly as easy as they say. You can just peel off the sticky backing, and pop them up on the wall. They’re even able to be rearranged. I found them to be decent quality as far as the printing (again, these are not heirloom quality), and the frames and stickiness were stellar. Very affordable!
This sunscreen that doubles as makeup: I will preface this by saying this stuff isn’t as cheap as drugstore sunscreen, but it’s absolutely fantastic. Just apply it on bare or moisturized skin, and it gives you a shimmer and evens out your skin tone. I love it, and love that I can wear my sunscreen and feel like a million bucks at the same time. For days in the sun, it’s really all the makeup you need.
