The epic senior photo has certainly evolved over the decades, from very simple school photos to a truly elite experience. For many earlier generations, senior pictures were more accurately just a single picture. You just headed to a studio, had a few portraits done, and then sent the least egregious one to the yearbook. These days, thankfully, we have come a long way, and your senior photoshoot is something to treasure and enjoy! It’s certainly not the same as your parents’ generation, but it’s been change for the better:

-Senior photos now are about the senior, not just a cookie-cutter image. Instead of making everybody look similar and achieving a cohesive look (like with regular school photos), now it’s about celebrating individuality and showcasing the things that make you special. In fact, here at Aubry Ramsey Photography, we aim for just that: a day all about you and the vision you have.
-Senior photos are about pampering: Now, senior photos are filled with extras like hair and makeup styling, wardrobe consults, and more. This creates a more custom look, and helps you feel polished from head to toe. Not only do you look your best and feel confident, you also enjoy the luxury of being pampered on the day of your session, and it’s a respite from the craziness of senior year. Many seniors recall it as one of their favorite high school memories!
-Senior photos today give you more than just a small handful of photos: Seniors who book with us walk away with heirloom quality products and prints that will last a lifetime. Not only that, but they also receive a full gallery with multiple poses and locations, and outfit changes. This gives you much more variety, and allows you to still choose your favorite photo for your yearbook, but accompanied by a spread worthy of a fashion magazine.
-Senior photos are worth the investment: Yes, senior portraits are more expensive than in yesteryears. In fact, some parents totally balk at the price, and say things like, “What? My senior photos were $50!”. I get it, they sound like an extravagant cost when you are preparing to head off to college, but these days, that investment gets you so much more than just photos. Today’s seniors are so much more involved and busy than in past generations, and that means they rarely stop to celebrate and acknowledge their many achievements. Senior sessions are about much more these days, because seniors are so multi-faceted, and they deserve a shoot that reflects that.
No, these aren’t your mom/dad’s senior photos, but they shouldn’t be! We believe seniors can expect and deserve a day that’s all about them, and celebrate how far photo sessions have come!
