Depending on your personal style, you may have been curating your senior wardrobe for weeks to months! It’s a huge part of your shoot, and for many seniors, it is one of the best parts of the process. Even if you’re not into following the latest trends and styles, you likely still want to carefully consider what you’re going to wear. Many clients overlook the accessories until the very end, which is a big mistake. They make or break an outfit, and can make a really big impact! Whether the shoes or the jewelry, the accessories can be the true finishing touch!

-Accessories make a big impact for a small investment: Many clients want to spend the bulk of their budget on amazing outfits, and rightly so! But they shouldn’t neglect the accessories simply because they aren’t the star of the show. In fact, great accessories like jewelry can amp up an inexpensive outfit and make it look more high-end and stylish.
-Necklaces are a beautiful way to make a basic top more impactful, and can be worn long after your shoot, if you choose a very classic style. I love the ones from Gorjana and Panacea, but they are quite expensive. Instead, you can find similar pieces from, of all places, Walmart or Versona Jewelry! Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but they make some very good versions that mimic the designer brands. Pair them with a solid color cream, black, or grey sweater or blouse for a classic and elegant ensemble. Here’s a great example: Classic Heart Necklace.
-Shoes are another accessory that can really pull an outfit together, or look like an afterthought. Always make your shoes part of your outfit, instead of something you decide on at the last minute. If you’re struggling with shoe choices, please consider where you have requested or where we have decided for our location. You want to be sure your shoes coincide with the walking or styling we would be doing, and if you’re wearing high heels, consider bringing a second pair to wear to and from spots that require more distance. Still struggling with footwear? Remember that if you have a very neutral or simple outfit, you can get away with a statement shoe, like a studded ankle boot. But, if your outfit is the real showstopper, be sure to leave your shoe a bit more classic. The ultimate focus should always be your gorgeous smile!
-Sentimental accessories are also a great choice. For some, their Varsity jacket or sports ring represents months and years of hard work in athletics. That would make it the perfect accessory for their shoot, because it shows off an aspect of their personality. Other sentimental ideas would be heirloom jewelry that was passed down to you, or something that represents you, like your birthstone. We can also include props in your shoot, such as special books, sporting equipment like tennis rackets or cheer poms, or instruments. Just let me know ahead of time at your consultation, so I can plan accordingly (Please do not show up with these spur of the moment, because it makes it very hard to design your custom session without proper heads-up!).
Don’t forget your accessories, and remember that they can stretch a slim budget. Please let me know if you have any questions!
